Evolution through selective pressure is well understood. Across countless generations, environmental pressures shape organisms towards traits that improve survival. The Haraka appear to follow this principle, though their method remains poorly understood.

On the surface, individual Haraka show little evidence of conventional adaptation. Yet when a threat repeatedly affects the whole, a new form can emerge seemingly without generations of gradual change.

The Carcinos is one such adaptation. It is theorised to have emerged in response to prey capable of attacking the Haraka with powerful range capabilities.

Two immense forward-facing limbs form natural shields across the organism's body, protecting both itself and the smaller Haraka moving behind it. Slow and heavily built compared to surrounding forms, Carcinos possess little need for speed.
